The tried-and-true strategy of offering an amazing freebie, following it up with a funnel, and then selling my products + programs has allowed me to grow my email list by tens of thousands, and my income to hundreds of thousands.

Add a weekly newsletter to that strategy and the lifetime value of that subscriber goes waaaay up.

Since March 15 we have had our two kids home full-time, like so many of you have.⁠

We "bubbled" with my parents a little while ago when things opened up here, and so have started to be able to go stay at their home + cottage, which was a game-changer. ⁠

But I hadn't had a solo day away from the kids in months.⁠
⁠
Well that all changed last week. ⁠
⁠
I spent an entire day at an outdoor co-working space that is just magical. It's a dreamy rural property that is so Pinterest-worthy, it's not even funny (maybe you caught it in my stories?).

I spent the whole day hanging out in the garden with my laptop, working away and just loving life.⁠
⁠
Then that evening I went for a solo walk to the river and just sat there, dreaming up all kinds of things.

I had forgotten how much I needed a day to just be Gemma.⁠

Not mom.⁠

Not wife.⁠

Just my badass entrepreneurial self, doing the stuff that lights me up.⁠

This is something that I use as a lens for my business decision making all.the.time.

Would future Gemma want me to freak out about missing a week of podcasting... or write the emails to build out a funnel to make consistent, long term sales?.

Would future Gemma want me to obsess over being on IG stories everyday... or map out a new program to sell?.

Would future Gemma want me to organize my entire Canva account... or book 1:1 calls with my students so I can get recorded testimonials?.

When you think about where you want to be 12 months from now, it becomes a lot easier to prioritize your tasks.

And I use this for personal decision making too.

Would future Gemma be happier that she stuck with the bedtime routine yet again... or took her kids for a late night summer swim in the lake?

Priorities. ✌

One of the biggest hang-ups my students and clients get stuck on when launching their courses and digital products?

The tech.

First, let me tell you a secret.

The tech you choose has nothing to do with whether you'll make sales.

A good offer will sell with an email and a PayPal button. Nothing fancy needed.

The other thing? You can always upgrade and change your tech down the road.

I started with as scrappy and DIY as I could get in the beginning.

It's like moving from the cheap coffee maker you got on sale at the grocery store for $9.99 to a fancy AF Italian machine that is basically made out of marble and makes alllll the lattes.

You can make do with the sub-par coffee at first, and then invest in the fancy stuff when you've made some sales.
